RETRATOS

En una gran exposición en el Guggenheim de Bilbao sobre David Hockney, conocí las obras de este pintor realizadas con el iPad e incluso con el móvil. El pintor alababa la facilidad de manejo, así como el sistema de capas e incluso mencionaba el programa que utilizaba. Me  puse a trabajar con dicho programa y empecé a hacer retratos, en los que me gustaría que tuvieran que ver con los de Warhol, Alex Katz o el propio Hockney. Estos retratos los hago por encargo, como es tradicional, e incluyen familiares, amigos y conocidos. Parto de fotografías que, en muchos casos hago yo mismo y forman parte de la obra, la cual entrego en papel, impresa en metacrilato o en formato puramente digital.

PORTRAITS

 

At a major David Hockney exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, I discovered the works he had created using an iPad and even a mobile phone. The artist praised the ease of use, and the layering system, and mentioned the software he used.

I decided to experiment with the same program and began creating portraits, aiming for a style reminiscent of Warhol, Alex Katz, or Hockney himself. These portraits are commissioned, following the traditional practice, and feature family members, friends, and acquaintances. I start with photographs—many of which I take myself as an integral part of the process—and deliver the final work in various formats: printed on paper, acrylic glass, or as a purely digital piece.
