Se trata de una importante dotación municipal destinada a sustituir al muy congestionado edificio actual, en un distrito que ha experimentado un enorme crecimiento en los últimos tiempos. El solar es de forma cuadrada y nuesto edificio ocupa la mitad del mismo, estando destinado el resto a otros edificios dotacionales. Adoptamos por ello una sencilla organización en claustro en torno al espacio central, a la que podrían incorporarse los edificios futuros. El volumen del auditorio sobresale del resto y forma una marquesina de protección junto a la entrada principal del edificio.
El edificio se retranquea respecto de la Av. de Buenos Aires, dejando un gran espacio para uso público de una anchura de unos 25 mts.
La composición es muy abstracta, con grandes masas ciegas de hormigón in situ que alternan con zonas de huecos protegidos con celosías de pizarra. El interior se resuelve buscando la flexibilidad de usos con suelos y techos técnicos, y divisiones intercambiables. Se adopta en todo una estricta modulación, tanto en planta como en alzado de 1,25 mts.. La superficie resultante es de unos 6.000 m2 sobre rasante y sótano de 3.000 m2.
A relevant municipal facility was conceived to replace the over-congested existing one in a district that has shown strong growth in the past years. The plot is square in shape, and our building occupies around 50% of its surface; the rest of it is reserved for further construction of other service buildings. Because of this, we adopted a cloister organization facing a central space, around which the future buildings could be subsequently incorporated. The volume of the auditorium stands out of the construction, forming a shelter cover over the main entrance of the building.
The building is set back from the street front, leaving ample space for public use –approximately 25 mts. in width. The composition is very abstract, alternating big blind masses of “in situ” concrete with openings protected with slate lattices. The concept for the interior aims at the flexibility of uses, with technical floors and ceilings and interchangeable divisions. A strict modulation of 1,25 mts. is applied throughout, in the horizontal as well as in the vertical plane. The final surface is of approximately 6.000 m2 plus a 3.000 m2 basement.
